Tyla takes art to the next level as she served a stunning fashion statement at the MET Gala 2024 with sand.

The Water hitmaker proves to be a huge fan of nature; After months of shaking the globe with Water, she comes up with another buzz, which is sand.

Tyla graced the Met Gala for the first time wearing a sand-designed dress.

Balmain creative director Olivier Roosting was particularly impressed with the idea that Tyla’s dress was ephemeral. “The inspiration behind this creation stemmed from a desire to redefine boundaries and transform a transient material into an everlasting masterpiece”, he tells Vogue. “The idea of sculpting a garment from something as ephemeral as sand ignited my imagination, and I could not be happier with the end result.”

“We were looking to do something creative, something completely different for my first Met Gala”, says Tyla.

“So when Balmain showed me the idea and sketch, I just knew it was perfect. The idea was crazy, and I loved it. I’m excited and a little nervous, but I’m looking forward to having a fun night at The Met!”

Tyla stole the spotlight on Monday night when she was carried up the stairs at the international event.

Videos and pictures of her rocking the look have gone viral on social media and have gotten her positive reviews.

One Twitter user wrote, “Tyla acts like she’s been here before. As if she was born with celebrity status. She has the personality, talent, charm, wit, attitude and aura of a global superstar. She was born star-ready.”
